If you are a #MastodonAdmin for a multi-user instance, you owe it to your users to not blindly trust centralized #FediBlock lists/directories.

I've seen at least half a dozen created in the past 2 months and while they might be useful, do your own research first before deciding which instances to block.

Also, for the sake of your users, avoid automated blocking systems/tools.

I've never seen so many people taking time to write meaningful descriptions on this level anywhere else.

Intial numbers are trickling for the monarch overwintering count in California, and it looks like a increase in western monarch butterflies along the coast of California for the holiday counts, +300000 (counts still need to be vetted, but yay!).
BUT
Numbers in LA County for overwintering monarchs are down. The percentage of monarchs in LA County typically has is around ~1-2% of the state's total monarch count numbers, but numbers seem to be much lower. More are in northern CA. Why, why, why?

On a frosty day last winter this cute little red-breasted European Robin bird (Erithacus Rubecula) visited the bird feeder in our garden. It was a very cold morning. The bird was sitting on a rusty metal garden decoration in the morning sun. It's feathers were puffed-up and it looked like a fluffy little ball.
