I live in Texas. I've never voted Republican. I can't move.
I could die of a treatable cancer because they won't accept the Medicaid expansion
so I can afford my treatment.
When you say "those people" deserve what they get?
I'm those people.
A group of #cobras is called a quiver.
A quiver of cobras.

Visionary diagrams of time, space, and knowledge by Emma Willard, born on this day in 1787 – America's first female cartographer and information designer, and a mighty education reformer who opened up higher education to women https://www.themarginalian.org/2019/07/09/emma-willard/
Gasoline Alley by Dick Moores from 1974. Wheels giveth...but they taketh away.
In retrospect, "clearly a bad one" may be uncharitable. :) I am perhaps empathizing too much with the creators of art whose creatorship is now in legal doubt. But this may have been the best, or one of the best, that the Office could do, until the courts or the legislature clarify the situation for them.
My brain will probably force me to Weblog about it soon.
A key sentence:
"Consistent with the law, the Office will not knowingly register works produced by a machine or mere mechanical process that operates randomly or automatically without sufficient creative input or intervention from a human author."
The "produced by a machine or a mere mechanical process" part seems uninteresting; the actual criterion is "without sufficient creative input or intervention from a human author". What is sufficient? I may have to read in more detail to see if this is any more than an "I know it when I see it...".
Ooh, the US copyright office makes a decision! And, I think, clearly a bad one! :) I should weblog, but I'm too lazy right now.

In the US, there are many issues that most Black folk see one way, and most white folk see the opposite way.
This isn't because Black people are using a different mental model to interpret the same data. It's usually because both groups are using similar mental models, but there is a *significant data asymmetry* between the two groups.
Resolving this data asymmetry, often causes different groups to realize that their mental models were quite similar all along.
Then they work together! ♥️👍🏿
