I signed up for Substack last November, when they were promoting themselves as an alternative to Twitter. Only did one test post, then forgot about it. But after watching Nilay Patel's TikTok excerpt of his interview with Substack CEO Chris Best, I deleted my Substack account, and boy did it ever feel *GOOD*.

Excellent timing that a 21 year-old cis, straight white guy Air National Guardsman who makes videos of himself shooting guns while shouting racist and antisemitic epithets is behind the massive intel documents leak on Discord while Republicans claim, without evidence, that trans folks are bad for military readiness.
Microsoft just published a paper - modestly titled "AGIEval: A Human-Centric Benchmark for Evaluating Foundation Models" - that, no joke, uses readily available *online* sample SAT questions to evaluate the GPT class LLMs. The problem, of course, is that same data was likely used to train the same models. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2304.06364.pdf
Annoying political types in social media
Wait, Taibbi moved from Twitter to TRUTH SOCIAL??? 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Sharing Followlists
As my next frontier, I considered shared follow lists, but really I didn't want to do anything like pull together some kind of merged list of follow lists.
But I often wonder:
Why don't more people share their follow lists?
Let's say one person is like "It's dead in here" and another person says "Really? Because my Home feed is out of control."
The Home feed person would export their Follow list as a CSV and have it imported by the "My feed is dead" person.
Boom. Instant follows abound. You now have broadened your following horizons and all you have to do is remove a few people that you don't like, but otherwise it's easier than posting a massive list of @ mentions, right?

Sara could feel the numbness quickly spread as the stunstars hit. She tried to get to her knees, to reduce the pain of hitting the ground. But she was only partway when they took full effect. Sara toppled, hit, and the pain was the only thing she could feel.
She was still conscious, aware of everything. A silver/gray face loomed over her.
“Your aunt says it’s time to come home” the deep metallic bass intoned as she was lifted from the ground.

Why are they trying to destroy public libraries in the US?
To paraphrase Brother Mouzone from The Wire:
“You know what the most dangerous thing in America is, right?
A person with a library card.”
A consciousness somehow associated with matter.
Posting about culture, philosophy, politics, AI Art Tools, NaNoWriMo, Software Development occasionally, the relationship of consciousness to matter.
