I think my post about my needle felted critters got lost when my server had a hard drive failure. I made these critters during the pandemic and now they hang out in my plants. I’ve seen some other #needlefelting posts now. #artsandcrafts

Blossoms

I'm fortunate to live in the "apple belt" of Massachusetts, and there are orchards everywhere. While we're known best for our apples, one of my favorite orchards has peach and nectarine trees, too.

One spring I decided to head over and see if the trees were flowering. The folks at the orchard kindly let me walk around and take pictures. This was my favorite shot from that day.

The anaesthetic power of chloroform was discovered in 1847 by the Scottish physician James Y. Simpson. He and his two friends experimented with it on the evening of November 4th. At first, they felt very cheerful and talkative. After a short time, they passed out. Impressed with the drug’s potency, Simpson began using chloroform as an anaesthetic.

In December 1847, he delivered the first baby using it. Simpson nicknamed the girl “Saint Anaesthesia.” Her real name was Wilhelmina Carstairs.

Goedemorgen, nat en grijs hier. Ik gooi er een molentje van vorige week op. Fijne dinsdag!

Two hours of take-offs and landings at San Francisco Airport, 8 to 10pm on a Friday night.

It was bitter cold. And this was perhaps the longest time ever I spent taking pictures in one spot, talking to myself and cursing throughout most of the evening.

FYI, this is a merge of 20-25 photos, each about 60 seconds long. Towards the end of the shoot, the fog started rolling in.

Day 19: I'm sharing "Poetry Color Stories"

Data Art using Character Frequencies in Poetry. Inspired by protein folding.

Each bend represents a space between words in the poem. The colors represent how often that letter is used in the poem.

I forget which poem this one is.

Really enjoyed the Six Days of Holiday Cheer from . The puzzle pieces are split into six sections so you can complete the wreath over a number of days. I gather the artwork was created with -E.

I have no connection with except as a happy customer.

This is not a chart depicting Moore’s Law.

This chart is the CRAYOLA COROLLARY showing that the number of Crayola crayon colors doubles approximately every 18 years.

Blue-sky thinking: Not quite a #fiducialmarker except in the broadest sense, but I find cyanometers, a device invented in 1789 to measure the colour of a clear sky, strangely beautiful and soothing.

#ArtAdventCalendar #sciart This is a tiny (12X12 inch) quilt I did for #QuiltYourScience. I wanted to try to capture some of the awe I felt when I saw the total eclipse in 2017.
