Beautiful soft & squishy #bluefacedleicester #wool. Ready for a hat I have in mind for a good friend.
I've had a bit of a #longcovid crash this week, which meant being unable to do much. But I find I can still #spin or #knit as it doesn't require me to stand. It's so good for my state of mind to be able to do something and I think spinning is soothing for my #nervoussystem.

Remember the sound of an old slide projector? A chewing gum machine? A coffee mill?
#ConserveTheSound puts together a virtual audio #museum of (almost) lost everyday #sound:
My spouse, a 4th grade teacher, is suffering from #LongCovid after twice getting infected in their classroom.
This happened because our school district keeps allowing sick kids to show up & stay in school without testing, and because it refuses to acknowledge the poor ventilation. Masks aren't required, vax isn't required, no one's testing, ventilation is atrocious, classrooms are crowded.
We're actively seeking an investigative reporter to help us spread the word.
Can anyone please help us?
Yea! Temperature has hit a balmy 20 F (-7 C)! And should be climbing toward 32 F (0 C) by the end of the day. #Vermont
(I realize that 20 F / -7 C is probably not “balmy” for most people, but hey, we’re just coming out of -17 F / -27 C 🥶,so at this moment in time we’ll consider 20/-7 as balmy! 🤣)
Discovered during the week I was unable to access a Kindle book purchased in 2013. Reason? The order was “too old”, and refund issued to buy again. Which was pointless as the book is now more expensive than when I bought it.
Subsequently discovered 66(!!) other ebooks no longer available for download.
Currently 40 minutes in to a support chat with Amazon.
About to learn, I think, whether we purchase ebooks, or rent them…
If I disappear from here for a few days, it’s a sure bet I’m up to something…
So, after asking about ways to keep my hands busy instead of using my phone as a fidget stim I came across #kumihimo, or Japanese braiding. I was reluctant to try #crafting again as I haven’t had much luck with crochet or knitting in the past, but I was surprised at how easy it was to do the basic braid and even my minuscule attention span could settle long enough to complete a bracelet! Intriguing 🤔
Hello everyone! I guess its time to introduce ourselves... We're a charity based in the Stirling area of Scotland that focuses on growing and planting trees, managing woodlands and speaking up for trees and woodlands in the face of the climate, biodiversity and health and wellbeing crises. We're volunteer led and work with and for the benefit of our local communities. You can find out more and get involved at treelinkstirling.org #trees #climate #community #woodland #biodiversity
I see there's chatter about creators being discouraged from posting their shop links and promoting their art for sale etc. on fedi.
Most of the pre-influx userbase of the fediverse chose to come here because they're tired of corporations and capitalism. They are very eager to support indie creators and very receptive to seeing shop links, Patreon/Ko-Fi links, commission sheets, etc.
I encourage our members to share their shop links liberally. People want to support you here. 💜
Tonight I am volunteering at the Malden Warming Center🧤
Last week, a guest requested women long socks so I got them🧦

What do you call a lovely, wooden ant nest with gables, towers, bay windows and back staircases?

Working on the P.170 #lensless #panoramic #camera. This rear brace design dates back 30 years to the swinglens camera of the same (6 by 17 - 170 degrees) format that I built.
5. My sister and I went through thousands of photos in preparation for my mom’s memorial, and I don’t recall seeing any of these. Also, the tissue paper on the slides doesn’t appear ever to have been disturbed, so I’m not sure, but I might be the first person ever to see these? Anyway, I can’t wait to show them to my sister. She’s a little girl in these photos, and she’s now a grandmother.
Planning a #conference? Include Mastodon at least as prominently in your materials as you do other social media. If you ask presenters or attendees for handles, ask for their Mastodon handle. This is an important opportunity for the Fediverse to reach, welcome, and engage key global audiences. #academia #event
People on YouTube are furious that Jesus has a rainbow sash in my videos. 😂🤷♂️ https://youtube.com/shorts/FdK0SPlykNc?feature=share
Late last year I decided that I needed to read the 100 most banned and challenged books from the last decade (2010-19).
https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks/decade2019
I want to understand why people want to ban them. After reading a book on the list, I write a very short review (500 characters) and post it in #BannedBooks. My friend and author @wasootch has been kind enough to post all the reviews on her blog at:

Please follow along or better yet, join in.

We've warmed up to O degrees F (feels like -21F) in #burlingtonVT so today seemed like an appropriate day to introduce the toddler to David Attenborough's Frozen Planet.
Hoping our cars start tomorrow, because they didn't earlier today. #Vermont #brrr
