I find this childishly fascinating. I have had a small piece of spring steel (from a chisel) in my forearm for a couple decades. Anyway we just bought these super-strong fridge magnets and look… 😂😂😂 Sadly, not quite strong enough to self-support upside down. Just trying to find ways to let the world know I'm open to commissions again, after long spells working on - alternately - Spitting Image, and our children's book. If any art folk have thoughts on this, or if anyone's in the market for fine-art caricature, I'd love to hear from you. Thank you.

My one #fiberuary contribution: my extra large sized baby blanket using the Love From Afar pattern from Island Yarns is done! I messed up the repeats so I have columns of hearts instead of a staggered pattern, but I kind of doubt anyone will notice over those spectacular colours and cozy as heck texture. This is by far the simplest baby blanket I have ever made - no lace, no enormously new technique. Also, I’m awful at blocking but still giving it a try!

Dr. Mae Jemison, MD, the first black woman in space and first actual astronaut to appear on a Star Trek show, one of the very few people on this planet of whom two pictures can be posted depicting them doing their job on a spaceship with entirely different contexts.

New #kakapo paper! We analysed what most affects fertility, one of the biggest issues for kākāpō recovery. Ranger and artist Sarah Little (instagram.com/sarahmaylittle/) provides the summary. Read the full paper here: peerj.com/articles/14675. #conservation

On the last day of #fiberuary #ColorWeek: the #Tortoise and the #SeaTurtle. Made in 2021 as gifts. For the tortoise I followed a Russian #crochet pattern and for the sea turtle I changed the legs into flippers and made the body flatter.

Earlier this week, I visit the Lake Champlain Basin program staff at Grand Isle, on South Hero Island. The lake's Hero Islands are connected by causeways from mainland Vermont. The view below is from the middle of the US 2 causeway between Sandbar State Park and South Hero. I learned the lake had frozen over there only about a week before my visit. And the wind Friday-Saturday caused terrible drifts on the road. #LakeChamplain #52LakeChamplain #HeroIslands #Vermont #ice #LCBP #desolate

#Fiberuary - #doubleknitting

My son is a huge #LOTR fan - and when I found a pattern for a scarf with the inscription of the ring, I just had to make it.

First we dyed the yarn together, as I couldn't find the right yarn: a very smooth wool-silk blend so it would not be itchy in the slightest bit, and the yellow should be a semi-solid so the writing would appear more dimensional than a solid color would deliver.

#Vermont folks. I am looking for a good Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. I live in #Williston but would be happy to drive an hour or so to get there. Any suggestions?
