I keep hearing a buzzy quote on the radio from a congressperson (I don’t know who) about the upcoming lapse of the #COVID #StateOfEmergency, paraphrased here:

“People now have what they need to keep themselves safe.”

As someone who takes serious precautions, who has #LongCOVID, and who has now caught COVID twice ✨in my own home✨

I respectfully disagree.

With the state of things here in the US right now, the only way I could keep myself safe is to isolate from other humans entirely.

I plunged into programming on the Spectrum +3. The manual was great - not only did it teach you basic but also unnecessarily dove into the DOS BIOS and low-level details of how it worked.

I love this book, I still have a copy of my shelf and the online versions were... basic.

So here is a brand-new reproduction featuring hand-crafted SVG reproductions of the drawings, hyperlinked sections and canvas-drawn animated colour screenshots I made.

If your NZ company is hiring and will sponsor work visas

please let me know so I can pass it on to the trans people in the US that need exit strategies *right now*.

I've always loved music of all kinds and I love creating art for #music lovers to enjoy! (I play saxophone, I'm not the famous Pamela Williams saxtress)

This piece was created from a photo taken at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City. If ever in the area check it out. A fascinating place to visit in the heart of where early jazz began!

Went to #Stkilda Pier to take some sunset shots tonight but due to construction site it was a waste of time, well until we saw the para-surfers.

Getting ready for the "historic deep freeze" in , .

It's just starting to get dark and we're at -0.6F or -18.3C.

That's the actual temperature. The wind chills are something ridiculous, but we've no way of measuring that.

Hoping nothing bad happens. Good luck to everyone else going through this.

It’s time for Doodle Mail! This month’s author newsletter is all about the Sun Bear - how to draw, fun facts, and a story worksheet. Fun for all ages, but my newsletter is geared towards elementary teachers, school librarians, and homeschool families. ginaperry.substack.com

Bought a cat bed for the girl this Christmas. She hasn’t touched it yet and the snubbing is strong! #CatsOfMastodon

Would you look at these babies 😍 🥰 🍦 ! (Photo by the Hulton Archive/Getty Images, shared first by the NMAAHC in honor of Alfred L. Cralle, who in 1897 patented the ice cream scoop) #BlackFriday #BlackJoy #BlackHistoryMonth

equipment fail nr.3:

we both bought the same nemoequipment sleeping mat for our trip around the globe.
the one fiona has, leaks every 2nd day somewhere else.
tonight she sticked the 6th patch onto it.
we are in africa, its not easy to get a new airbed and you realize how importand it is to have reliable equipment.
we hope they will send us a warranty replacement very soon, waking up on the floor in the night is not fun!

its marc's birthday today!

fiona organized a birthday cheescake with candles 😍

while 150 people from the paris dakar race entered the campground and it feels like eating the cake in a motorcycle workshop. noise and smell of petrol driven vehicles. we feel very small and unseen with our minimal #bikelife setup between the high equipped trucks, cars and bikes.

btw.
thanks to @Pedro1963 and pbzuercher for the boost!

Whenever I pass this memorial on the Kelvin Walkway, I always stop to pay my respects as my Great Uncle was one of those drafted in by the council to help deal with the aftermath of the explosion.

He was always very proud of the role he played on that day, but sadly his teeth never fully recovered!

Terence Dickinson has passed away.

Well this is heartbreaking. I owe my knowledge of the night sky to Dickinson's Nightwatch. I still recommend the book to people who want to learn amateur astronomy.

He'll be missed.

Exactly one year ago today, a certain formerly-feral kitty felt brave enough to explore our master bedroom for the first time.

What he found there blew his little street kitty mind.

That's right: today is the first anniversary of Napoleon discovering duvets exist.
