@brendan @crosswordman Interesting! I didn’t find wind specifically in that breakout, but I did find it interesting that “non-hydroelectric renewables” were higher than hydro. The word at the pool hall and chainsaw store is always something like, “Vermont gets almost all of its electricity from hydro Quebec” - clearly not true. It is clear that Vermont’s energy mix seems nearly completely separate from the rest of New England: iso-ne.com/isoexpress/web/char

Budapest public transport has a tram with see-through panels so people can peek into the mechanics of how the tram works. They even have signs explaining parts.

It's pretty fun. Every time I catch it I love to watch people marveling at it, kids and adults alike. 😄

One of the joys of winter is to cross an ice covered fjord to ride on islets and islands that are otherwise nit easily accessible #cycling

@crosswordman @johnlehet Found this summary which says wind accounts for 14% of the #Vermont energy mix, more than most states.

Just going through some of the photos I've never actually published and came across this shot of the Empire State Building taken in July 2022 from the High Line.

Still never managed to do a night walk around #Manhattan, but one day I'll get to it! I bet it's a night photographer's dream to walk around Manhattan taking urban night shots.

I've lived in a rural forested area but so many times when I saw something and ran to get my camera, it' was gone by the time I got back. This time this large female pileated woodpecker was too focused on her task to care about me. Their beaks are strong and can knock whole chunks of bark off a mature Douglas Fir tree. fineartamerica.com/featured/fe #birdphotography #pileatedwoodpecker #aYearforart #wildlifephotography #naturephotography

There is a clonal colony of quaking Aspen in south-central Utah that is as much as 14,000 years old (some estimates place it's age closer to 80,000 years). It is possibly the world's oldest living organism.

(The clonal colony is a group of genetically identical trees sharing a single root system thus making it one organism.)

Its name is Pando.

After hearing about the earthquake in Syria, I wanted to check on #ErnestosSanctuary and they suffered only minor building damage, all staff and animals are fine. Unfortunately, many around them have been killed and homes lost. All team members donated blood for victims of the earthquake. Please keep all who were impacted by these earthquakes close and in your thoughts.

I love my residency at the Roundhouse Community Center. It helps me to connect to others within my community and to teach them how to bead in the style of their culture.

It is difficult for me to read toots that have hashtags inside of the text. I prefer to see them at the end. I have read folks using text to speech also saying it is difficult to hear when the hashtags are in the text.

Please consider keeping your hashtags at the end of your toots.

Feel free to boost this toot if you agree and want it seem more widely.

Made some bonbons. From left to right: salted caramel, blueberry truffle, toasted almonds and browned buttwr, and chocolate fudge & espresso.

Today, childcare is closed again, so it's Bring your Kid to Work Day.

First adventure: going to Mum's work by bus. Second adventure: building a den under my desk. Third adventure: painting and drinking lemonade in the meeting room while Mum is joining jour fixe of @baccara administration

"Mum, when will you start working? Currently, you are just drinking coffee, talking to people, and taking notes." 😂

I love to just play around with colors and shapes in Gimp. Some of the stuff I am able to create surprises me. That is one thing I love about making #abstractart. The element of surprise!

This is an older abstract that happened that way.

On the anniversary of the #FluTruxKlan convoy in Ottawa...

These Buttnmandl/Krampus guys are usually around at the Fest of St. Nicola.

Wrapped from head to toe in hand-threshed straw, they run noisily from home to home and through each community. Their heads covered with a fur mask and a long red tongue adding to their frightening appearance, they clank the large cowbells attached to their backs weighing up to a total of 45 pounds.
