Always sad to hear when a bike manufacturer goes bust. However, in the case of TIL: Their bikes have an app and "cloud features". What the whopping flip!? Why would you buy that? Haven't dozens of smart home devices that got bricked by insolvency taught humanity anything? 🤦

@cweickhmann The only problem is the encryption key to unlock the bike, which can be extracted with various tools. If they shut down the service, you can still use the bike just like a normal bike but without the smart features obviously. The way bigger problem are the proprietary parts on the bike itself. It will be hard to get a repair, if something breaks (which, by my experience, happens quite often)

True, but then again: Someone paid for this cloud stuff when they chose that bike. And all I'm saying is that that's almost never a wise choice. Case and point.

@cweickhmann I totally agree with that, if you paid for a smart bike, you want it to stay smart :D
