It always amazes me, how prolific the stupidest way of writing down a date actually is. And that's despite the fact that only 334 million people out of ~8 billion actually use it.

And, yes, there is a solution, it's used in Japan and ISO mandates it. It's YYYY-MM-DD. Logical, sortable, easy to read and write.
