I think this Musk to require people to pay to tweet idea is great

It’ll kill X/Twitter even faster, which by now is the best outcome I think - as it’s not to be saved

His supposed rationale - that it’s to stop bots - is laughably funny. Twitter has more of a bot problem today that 12 months ago *because of Musk’s decisions*. Now this is to put it right? 😂

@jon
It's Timothy Snider's brilliant analysis over and over again:

theguardian.com/commentisfree/

And Space Karen is analogously saying he's singlehandedly saving us from the very bots he's fostering now. But I think you're at least partially wrong: There are too many journalists and politicians (or even ministries etc) present on the 💩 platform too lazy to rebuild their network elsewhere.

@cweickhmann even those journalists are uneasy. This might be enough to push them off.

@DMLeathley @jon @cweickhmann it will push the audience off though. So journalists will have no reason to stay

@motomatters They will stay as long as many people post newsworthy stuff there. Just to be the first to have read and embedded into article. It might evolve more into a passive role, I agree. Like when journos obviously went to "truth".soc*** to read the Crazy Cantaloupe's messages first-hand. @DMLeathley @jon
