Just a question to the devs who make password wallets etc using GPG: Why do you tell the user, they got only 3 attempts at entering their private key's password?

They don't. They have infinite attempts because they own the key file. I've seen this in #KDE and #Gnome now.

@jon Dig a little further and you'll find that his positions on his policy field are not un-criticised. Then again, he's minister for a while now and I'm not aware of any larger problems. So, probably generally capable, not the big-fuzz guy (which is probably not a bad thing).
Then again: He's from Niedersachsen, where the interior ministry is largely about sheep and cattle, I guess... 🤷 😄

@rahmstorf Jetzt sollte man zur Einordnung noch dazu sagen, dass Frau Ludwig offenbar der sog. "WerteUnion" angehört und schon ein Interview in der Jungen Freiheit gegeben hat. Sie ist also sicherlich äußerster rechter Rand der CDU.
Die Frage dürfte daher sein: Wie lange will der CDU-Vorstand solche Positionen dulden oder wird er sich sie sogar zu eigen machen (was man bei den Äußerungen mancher etablierteren CDU-Aktuere nicht so ganz ausschließen kann).

Okay, so #WindTurbines (their generators mostly, to be precise) contain #RareEarth elements. Those aren't actually rare, by the way. But at the moment they are strategically rare because a certain #West didn't bother for decades and a certain #China almost monopolised the market (tough shit, but manageable).
Now, there's also an ecological question to #mining (and hopefully some day #recycling - we suck at this) these elements. And right now, German press seems to go a little crazy about this.

But you know what? Lignite (brown #coal), black coal, #oil and #NaturalGas are - right now - being mined at enormous ecological expenses. They aren't building materials that you need once (few hundred kg per installed MW) but fuel (of which you need tons per MWh produced). And literally nobody seems to care.

I've got to say: As a society we royally suck at having informed discussions about technology and, well, our future as a civilisation.
