Sweltering streets: Hundreds of homeless die in extreme heat

Excessive heat causes more weather-related deaths in the United States than hurricanes, flooding and tornadoes combined.

@Hanseatin Würden das mehr als nur Spurenelemente machen, die Hersteller würde es nicht mehr geben und es würde nicht an jeder Ecke ein Glascontainer stehen. Mir geht's nicht darum, was einzelne machen.

Heatwaves ♨️ do not only impact life on land

The waters of the Mediterranean Sea have also been affected by the recent extreme temperatures

On 19 June, the Sea Surface Temperature along the coasts of 🇪🇸🇫🇷 & 🇮🇹 was showing an anomaly of +5°C

@trinsec On every single monitor (as in display device), I've had very awkward buttons somewhere at the bottom, front or side of the housing that in some way related to navigating the menu (e.g. selecting inputs, changing contrast, ...).
E.g. my LG at home has a row of capacitive buttons (so they are very, very sensitive to proximity) *under* the device (so you don't see them) and are coded like: left, right, cancel, okay. Guess what happens ;-)
My last Dell at work hat similar mechanical switches but you had to always match their meaning to what was displayed.

Okay, so Dell finally solved the monitor UI usability problem by placing a joystick on the back of the device and I cannot tell you how happy I am! 🙏 The person deserves a medal.

Ob die EZB auch Panini-Bilder sammeln würde, habe ich gefragt!?

Heute genutzt. Dreimal umsteigen in baustellenreichem Gebiet. Alle Züge waren pünktlich.

If you have to follow recipes that tell you to preheat your oven as step 1 before you start to prepare the dough you have a very, very shitty oven.

@trinsec Wait! PC radical genderwokeism HAS NOT BEEN INVENTED BECAUSE OF RECENT CONSERVATIVE A\*\*HOLES BUT BECAUSE OF MUCH EARLIER CONSERVATIVE A\*\*HOLES?
My mind is blown. Not. 😂

Apparently using *they* as a singular pronoun (to use instead of *he* and *she*) is hardly a new phenomenon. It dates back to 1375 in written records!

In fact, singular *you* is much more recent! Dating back to the 17th century! 😂

Oh, this quote's fun, and it shows that our gender-related issues has been going on for centuries:

> In 1794, a contributor to the New Bedford Medley mansplains to three women that the singular they they used in an earlier essay in the newspaper was grammatically incorrect and does no ‘honor to themselves, or the female sex in general.’ To which they honourably reply that they used singular they on purpose because ‘we wished to conceal the gender,’ and they challenge their critic to invent a new pronoun if their politically-charged use of singular they upsets him so much.

I'd say it's probably safe to use *they* in general. I do use singular *they* regularly and it's the least fuss imo.

To the people who think blue status LEDs are a good idea: Why do you hate humans?
