'Both ipsilateral and contralateral vaccination induce a strong immune response, but secondary boosting is more pronounced when choosing vaccine administration-routes that allows for drainage by the same lymph nodes used for priming.'

@cyrilpedia @gpollara Local immunological processes seem to have a relevant impact...pointing to tissue #Heterogeneity (or organ heterogeneity) despite systemic reactivity. Do you know other examples? #Immunology There has been data showing differences between the vaccination sites for #mrna #cancer #vaccines ...

@halama_immuno @gpollara Gabriel'a lab (@victoralab) has been looking at the effects of same vs new site in some of the recent papers, with a focus on how it affects serum Ig and GC composition. Here's a recent example: nature.com/articles/s41586-023

@cyrilpedia @halama_immuno @victoralab thank you looping me into this thread.

Fascinating the ipsilateral vs contralateral #vaccination route though perhaps striking thing to me is the lack of a more pronounced signal. I. E. Yes there is a bit to gain from ipsilateral boosting but not a lot.

However I wonder if this could be a crucial variable in achieving effective / longer lasting #immunisation in those hard to vaccinate - e.g. Immunosuppressed

@cyrilpedia I always choose my left arm for all immunizations, Just in case. I hope nonmean pathogen comes to me from the right, though.
