#IDMastodon Outpatient therapies for #COVID19 To prevent future surges in hospital admissions due to the virus, the @fda_drug_info approved several outpatient options under emergency use authorizations for patients who have mild-to-moderate & are at risk for progressing to severe #COVID19. Although these therapies should not replace vaccination or masking, they provide patients with an extra tool for protection against a potentially increasing severity of illness or hospitalization.

“When ice melts the liquid water volume goes up” - I remember this as children, we worried about glacial melt & Arctic melt leading to sea level rise & flooding in our mostly-at-sea-level deltaic coasts & island states across Asia/Pacific. 'The drawing was a page from Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus, and I had been invited to witness the painstaking process of its conservation. One morning last winter, I descended to the conservators’ laboratory, which occupies a room just outside the steel-and-glass doorway to the Ambrosiana’s gleaming vault. At the bottom of the stairs, I was stopped by an attendant, who took a coffee cup from my hands and placed it out of harm’s way.'

Hello! A new intro for a new instance.

I lead a research group trying to figure out axonal transport and neurodegeneration. A big emphasis on the microtubules and their motors, but really the transport of anything that doesn't have a membrane around it. For this we use a lot of single molecule methods and live cell imaging. I also post about research culture.
