'So why did artists pivot from venerating powerful people and institutions to images of peasants engaged in unremarkable activities like walking, dancing, working and eating?'
“Mire usted”, le contestó, “cuando tomé posesión me dijo el rector: Tiene usted ahora que ir al Sr. arzobispo para ponerse a su disposición.
—¿Y por qué?, dije yo.
—Hombre, es lo que hay que hacer, ¿no le parece?
—Pues me he venido sin más [a Madrid] y que le den por culo al arzobispo y al rector”.
'Our results show that despite different building materials, comb configurations, and 179 million years of independent evolution, honey bees and social wasps have converged on the same solutions for the same architectural problems, thereby revealing fundamental building properties and evolutionary convergence in construction behavior.'

'When my college roommate concluded with a personality test that I was the “creative” type, the rest of my friends said that couldn’t be right, because “I was a scientist and therefore was not creative.” When I tell people I’m in a chemistry Ph.D. program, they often respond with something along the lines of, “I could never do that because I am more of the creative type.”

I’d like to boost this project on Donor’s Choose. Mr. Snethen is trying to raise funds to buy some entomology (insect study) supplies for his Lakota students. $1400 is not a huge ask when starting a science project from scratch. I’m sure any amount would be appreciated - the project runs until the end of November. Please boost for reach and donate if you are able. Thanks.

Back in the year 1006 AD, light reached Earth from a stellar explosion in the constellation of the Lupus, that appeared brighter than Venus and lasted for over two years.
The #supernova SN 1006 occurred about 7000 light years away and has left a large remnant that continues to expand and fade today.
Pictured here is a small part of that expanding supernova remnant dominated by a thin and outwardly moving shock front.

'Much guidance on statistical training in STEM fields has been focused largely on the undergraduate cohort, with graduate education often being absent from the equation. Training in quantitative methods and reasoning is critical for graduate students in biomedical and science programs to foster reproducible and responsible research practices.'

Now that The Expanse is finished, I wanted to go behind the scenes and explain how they created the best space show of the last decade. Of course, I start with design and concept art!
Here's my interview with Lee Fitzgerald devoted to Season 2!

It's really just the beginning of what (I hope) will be a great resource dedicated to the making of #TheExpanse
Enjoy!
And if you like it, please support this account on Ko-fi or Patreon. I really need support 🙏
'In this important study, Harada et al. provide convincing evidence that an inability to metabolize #mannose leads to impaired synthesis of deoxynucleotide triphosphates and DNA, which can be leveraged to sensitize cancer cells to #chemotherapy.'
I've worked on all of science, from B cells to T cells.
