One possibility is to support a #Mastodon feature that would allow #unlisted posts to be present in #hashtag feeds, see github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i

For the time being, I see no real solution if you want e.g. to know about new #actin papers but can't parse by yourself all of @Rxiv_cytoskeleton posts...

but we can discuss this, if you have ideas.

'These episodes made me experience first-hand a phenomenon that I was becoming increasingly familiar with: the vanishing of confidence in science. It seems almost a paradox: as our societies become more and more dependent on advanced technology based on scientific discoveries, people are becoming more and more suspicious of scientists.'

'Similarly, the poorest communes have generally voted much more for the left, especially in cities. That remains true to the present day. The (often intentional) confusion comes from the fact that commentators tend to associate the working classes only with blue-collar manufacturing workers, forgetting that the average wage of supermarket cashiers, restaurant staff, cleaners, care workers and other service industry employees has fallen below that of manufacturing workers for several decades now.'

Interesting to see this reflection from a Nobel prize winner on the distrust of science and the abuse he received when talking about vaccines. Applaud his call for more investment in dialogue with the public. I have to say my experiences particularly since covid have been the level of distrust and anger to science is through the roof and I now regularly receive abuse for talking about vaccines and even Long Covid.

For people with hard-to-treat depression, a non-invasive technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation can provide relief.

Whether TMS can “cure” depression “is an open question — there’s evidence for and against,” says David Pitcher, a cognitive neuroscientist who wrote an overview in the Annual Review of Psychology on using TMS to study human cognition.

September 25, 1961 - Herbert Lee, a farmer who worked with civil rights leader Bob Moses to help register black voters, was killed by a state legislator, E. H. Hurst, in Liberty, Mississippi. Hurst claimed self-defense and was acquitted by a coroner's jury the same day as the killing. Lewis Allen, who witnessed the shooting, said otherwise, and was himself murdered two years later.
