Stumbled upon a cabinet of 19th-century anatomical treasures at the Natural History Museum in Venice. Unfortunately, there was very little information about the collection, but it did feel very much like walking into the office of an obsessive Victorian professor. I couldn't resist getting a few photos for you guys.

Congratulations to @SenguptaLab@twitter.com on this fascinating paper linking specific gene expression in a specific cell to specific memories.

Our latest! Led by @nathanCSharris@twitter.com & Sam Bates we ask: How do experiences modify neuronal gene expression to drive plasticity? We find that multiple stimulus features can be encoded in the gene expression program of a single sensory neuron.. 1/13

'Whereas Freud saw consciousness as layered and broadly situated in the brain, Cajal saw it as local and mechanical. He believed that it resided somehow within cells, as if a cell were a kind of chamber containing impressions that produce the self and one’s sense of being alive.'

New cool #preprint from @SchullerJm and colleagues showing a surprisingly familiar but different bacterial nanowire decorated with enzymes 🤩
---
RT @SchullerJm
We are proud to present our latest work on enzymatic decorated protein nanowires. AOR from A. aromaticum is another enzyme that can create HDCR-like filaments. As expected, it also has high potential for biotechnology applications. See the preprint:

The story of cervical screening starts with a Greek immigrant, George Papanicolaou. Born in Kimi in 1883, Papanicolaou trained in medicine in Athens and emigrated to the USA in 1913. After some time performing various jobs including playing the violin and selling rugs, Papanicolaou obtained work at New York University and Cornell University. There, he began researching vaginal smears, first in animals, then in humans.
