Well that didn't last long:
at the start of the day #JeremyHunt declared the #Tories would 'spend whatever it takes' to deal with the schools buildings crisis.... but by the end of the day it clear that actually there would be no new money & the Dept. Education would need to take the funds for remedial work from their existing budget(s).
So, yes (as I posted a couple of days ago), just one more Tory but of attrition on publicly funded #education.
Or perhaps better:
more bullish*t from Hunt
'Bipartisan support continued through three reauthorizations of the program. That ended this year, when Republicans took over the House with a slim majority that was beholden to the MAGA wing of the party, which has been looking for opportunities to damage any Biden administration priorities. PEPFAR became a target when the Heritage Foundation released a falsehood-ridden report in May saying the administration was using it as a “vehicle to promote its domestic radical social agenda overseas,” specifically abortion and L.G.B.T.Q. issues.'

'Here, we reveal that gut commensal bacteria can translocate directly to the brain when mice are fed an altered diet that causes dysbiosis and intestinal permeability, and that this also occurs without diet alteration in distinct murine models of neurological disease. The bacteria were not found in other systemic sites or the blood, but were detected in the vagus nerve.'

'The Webb data, though, revealed that some very large galaxies formed really fast, in too short a time, at least according to the standard model. This was no minor discrepancy. The finding is akin to parents and their children appearing in a story when the grandparents are still children themselves.'

'In a 2016 article for The Atlantic, Edward Simon explored the sci-fi that was published during and before the peak of the scientific revolution, including such novels as Thomas More’s Utopia, Francis Bacon’s New Atlantis, and Johannes Kepler’s Somnium. Literature helped spark curiosity as new scientific understandings were developing, he explained. “Science fiction alone did not inspire the scientific revolution, but the literature of the era did allow people to imagine different realities—in some cases, long before those realities actually became real,” Simon wrote.'

Astronomers have discovered a rare system containing two long-period #planets orbiting TOI-4600, a nearby #star 815 light years from Earth.
The star hosts an inner #planet with an orbital period of 82 days while a second outer planet circles the star every 482 days.
Both planets are likely gas giants, similar to Jupiter and Saturn, though the composition of the inner planet may be more of a mix of gas and ice.
