IP issues aside, I think we agree.

I also agree with @askennard that authors might be opening themselves up for inadvertent plagiarism and facilitating the exploitive practices most (or all) AI companies used to build their LLMs, and depending on future litigation putting themselves in legal jeopardy.

However, assuming those issues are resolved, I think authors should be able to use AI tools to improve their writing.
