@danieljamesyon psychometrician here! Non-practicing. Love running into researchers online (and secretly wishing I was part of your world :) ). This is so fascinating! Our perceptions can easily become the object, in a manner of speaking, because of the way we respond with it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
@ciaolongbao Thanks Lia! I completely agree. One of the big questions we’re interested in is how our models of the world can control what we perceive.

@danieljamesyon Utterly fascinating. Also, I can't help but feel affirmed in thinking that psychology is still very much in its "alchemy era" given that it's such a young field of study. The part about legal implications is one I don't see often in articles like this. I did a few years in law school and it's surprising how much of the foundations of criminal law rely on assuming other people's capacity to make moral judgements -- something that's shaped by their own perceptions of the world.
