I don’t understand what the #housedemocrats would lose by cutting the head off the insurrectionist snake. A group of Democrats could immediately vote for McCarthy, as bad as that smells. And all of these anti-American, insurrectionist, snakes like Gaetz, Bobert and the others would immediately be silenced.
@daphsci They could have made a deal in return for some alternate concessions. But democrats by an large in the populace wouldn't be able to handle the simple fact that they voted for a republican, and it could be used against them in the future, which they wouldn't risk.
In politics, never do anything for free when you can extract a price, such as equal committee membership or some key legislation.

Or a few Republicans could just vote for Jeffries, who is clearly the better candidate anyway! Why should the Democrats have to help clean up the Republicans' mess? :)
@ceoln so what is the Democrats game here? I don’t see anything. They could be running ads pointing out the failures of the GOP to even leave their own. I just don’t see any political gamesmanship on the part of the Democrats here at all.

I don't know. They're certainly saying snarky things to the press and on social media. Don't know if they are doing any ad buys. . .
@daphsci D's are gonna have a hard enough fight getting committee seats etc, they shouldn't hafta do R's job for them too
