@mastodonusercount What? 394k in the last hour? That's so far off the norm (about 10k lately) I wonder if that's spurious, or real.

@royal @mastodonusercount AFAIK, it's from instances.social (which the bot apparently gets its data from) fixing some sort of long-running issue which was causing it to not track a large amount of instances, which means all the users on those instances which weren't being tracked now are.
@deadbeef @mastodonusercount I reckon we should give it a day or two to settle into the new data then.
