* A new Pinafore client discussions Forum is now online at Qoto's Discourse Forums *
We now have a brand new sub-forum, dedicated to the powerful and fast Pinafore client for Fediverse.
I am a big fan of Pinafore, since first trying it six months ago. It is a popular client with power users, as it is FAST and Light, plus has elegant design, clean UI and many nice features.
Nolan Lawson is the author of Pinafore, and I have told him many times how I enjoy it.
As part of Fandom, I thought we could do more to support Great Software, and requested a new Project Forum for Pinafore here at our Discourse Forum. Our Qoto.org admin graciously agreed and created it, and it's now opening for business.
As a matter of fact, an Introductory post was needed, so here we are. :smileycat:

Not only we have the new forum, but I have just collected a topic we discussed here, earlier today in our local feed -- and made it into a prettier, formatted and in-line illustrated page.
The way a good manual page could be; and there's a need, the documentation available is very limited; so I plan to add to it.

The Forum is publicly Visible (anyone can read) and open to new user registrations if you want to comment, ask questions about Pinafore or have any suggestions to the Author. We will be sure to pass those along, and Nolan is very good with supporting, promptly responding when I had something to ask.

This is a very good tutorial for beginners.
I definitely used it to learn the basics.
I was wondering:
* What would be the difference b/w Markdown and Latex
* How to begin using the latter
* How hard is it to use it
* and if you use it on Write.as?
I had open an account on Overleaf to do my resume but I'm kinda lost in translation😁!
@globcoco @design_RG I used a template for my resume but that still assumes you have been using it LaTeX for a while.
I would start with simple documents and work up
Personaljournal (which runs Write.as ) has MathJax installed which allows for LaTeX maths to be part of the page.

We probably need a LaTeX category on the forum to discuss in more detail. I will give some more detailed answers from personal experience in the Chemistry section of the Forum the moment.
@zleap @globcoco I am glad to see you both alread knew the MarkDownTutorial.com website -- I came accross it just at the rignt moment in my journey, when I was first starting the blog in December 2019 and struggling with the ugliness of html markup. Not fun at all.
I found someone's Topic in another instance (visiting others, always fun), and went -- was astonished at how wonderful that tutorial is!
I am a Tech educator, and the tutorial is interactive and the best application of tech to learning that I have ever seen. I took the lessons and practiced, then switched over to my text editor and applied them. Revised the pages I already had made, and started new ones in plain markdown.

Latex I have never used, but looks wonderful for complex Math equations, so there's power on it.
Paul, not sure if LaTex is supported in the Forum, although you could create code and finished output here and copy paste images for illustration there.

That is an excellent post and I am glad to see out Forum being used more. Forums really allow so much that is difficult or impossible here -- like detailed formatting, in-line images, etc.

@design_RG I found https://www.markdowntutorial.com/ great for learning markdown, there is also https://stackedit.io/ as a online markdown editor, integrates with github, so It may also do the same for Gitlab.
