Don't like CATS or all those cat photos that some of us keep plastering all over the ?

Fear not, as Mastodon has built in FILTERS -- and all it takes is to configure one or more to get rid of pesky posts.

As a local moderator, I feel compelled to explain and share this with you - so you can hide all these pesky photos which I am particularly fond of, as are many, but maybe not everyone.

So, what to Do?

1. Click on the Gear icon, to visit the "Preferences" area of Mastodon.

2. Navigate down to the "Filters" menu item (see it on screenshot, on the left side).

3. And here you can configure *ANY filters you like*, based on a piece of Text to search for in fediverse posts.

To hide all the Cat maniac photos, I would suggest using something similar to the hash tags I normally use:

Enter that, or any other expression to search for in the proper line, see screenshot #1.

4. Hit the Save button and the filter will be saved and in effect from now on. See screenshot #2.

You have the options of "Delete" or "Edit" the filter later, if you change your mind, or if the poster changes their offending post routine.

** GREAT way to get rid of mindless Twitter reposts which some people hate -- I recommended that at another instance that had some Really BAD cases like that, and got many thanks from relieved users. 😜

Any questions, please ask.

Love Cats? Post some, boost some, thank you! 😺

@fearnow From looking and reading posts in that hash tag you used, I found a mention to this : vassalengine.org/index.php

...which might be a great place, seems you can find both games and people to play with online in the site. Good luck!

@peterdrake ...and it was duly ignored. 😛

Maybe the warmth of the paving stones was more comfortable? Nice dog, she is.

@truestrangenews Sorry to hear about that, a trully awful experience. Argh.

I hope you enjoy your stay in the Fediverse, and find it comfortable to publish your content here.

If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

If you have any questions, just ask and people will try to help you. Good luck! 😃

"(How) American Collapse Resembles Soviet Collapse
Six Ways America’s Collapse is Eerily Like the Soviet Union’s Last Days."

"If I was to tell you there was a society in which longevity, real incomes, savings — not to mention, happiness, meaning, trust, and democracy itself — were all shrinking at record pace, what would you say? I’d say it was collapsing — whether or not its people knew it, or wanted to know it.

Yesterday, that society was the Soviet Union. Today, it’s America. And it strikes me that these two collapses are eerily similar in many ways. Now, I’m not crying: “America is the Soviet Union, dude!!!111” — but I’ll come to that. First, the parallels."
