@snow @11112011 @freemo

It's some underground organization, I think, they must make money from screen ads in the videos or webpages. Or else why bother doing all of this?

@snow That's interesting! 😃 Even a bicycle with some added panels for the anime art.

@snow Each person is individual, and has their own interests. There are people with much stranger interests, so nothing to worry, I think. 😄

@11112011 @freemo @snow Those people are nasty, they will be back.

Some of the accounts they have been using had been created a year ago or so - and left there, zero posts, until they fire up their pirate video post and never use it again (even more since we delete the account as soon as it's seen and reported).

Crappy, garbage. Annoying. Relentless.

** We should really add a Captcha to the registration process as someone suggested in a mod report the other day (from a remote instance). **

As annoying as they are, maybe it could deter their sign up bot system.

@snow If you want the idea/suggestion to get to the attention of the project developers, yes, that would be a good place. Beware there's a lot of postings there, and it's best if you prepare a good post, well explained and clearly pointing what you propose.

You could try posting a suggestion in an instance, an open post, and request comments first; then later proceed to the github if you receive favourable feedback.

Could also do that post and include some of the Hashtags that people use for development and admin work and chat -- # mastodev # mastoadmin for example. (I left a space in the hash so it wouldn't actually add this post there).

@Kovaelin It depends on how old the system is, sometimes there are fixes or new features added in newer releases, but they stop updating them after some time, or when the feature set is no longer being expanded (like sometimes happen when Intel releases a new processor, which a system board might support but which needs slight changes in the bios.)

So not updating it is not that risky, as it's not so frequently or continuously updated like an operating system, for example.

There's always some risk on flashing a new bios or firmware into a device -- things CAN go wrong, and it's a pain if they do - a bricked device is the result, recovering is difficult or impossible. So do it with care, and pray to the Gods that all goes well, best if you have an UPS, uninterruptable power supply, to connect the device to. Laptops, have a charged battery and do it with the power adapter plugged in as well.

@snow No misunderstanding, I know you are not a Feline fan. 😃

Was talking about my own motivation to like and bring those photos here.

Este fín de semana marca el Dia de Las Madres en muchos países de Europa - España, Portugal.

Feliz Dia de la Madre a todas que frequentan el Fediverso. Gracias por su cariño y dedicación.

EN : This weekend marks Mother's Day in many European countries - Portugal, Spain, and others.

Happy Mother's Day for all of them who frequent the Fediverse. Thank you for your love and dedication.

@snow I hope people will appreciate your posts and images. There's a big group of Cat fans in the Fediverse, and we don't have the large amount of cat posting people and accounts that is in Twitter.

So I try to bridge some content, and it's well received, me thinks. 😺

@snow @miguel31416 You can report them here or at other instances, when their posts show. They are really annoying, creating accounts just to make a single post off each; then on to another account.

I think you probably meant reporting them to copyright violation entities, and yes, that could be done; but I imagine these people are doing all they can to avoid being located. So, not much gain from that possibly.

@snow There seems to have been a flood of these pirated video posts earlier today?

I caught a couple, but looking at the reports list, seems there were a ridiculous amount earlier on -- some reported by Snow even.

If you want to be the one deleting those posts, by all means we could use some help! 😃

@lition400 Hello, and welcome to Qoto.

Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

We also have another new users guide, posted here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggesti

@Kovaelin from the page linked :

"Memory : 32GB max / 2400MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable, two DDR4 SO-DIMM sockets"

So up to 32 GB total, in two DIMM modules, up to 16 GB each. Ideal to have two modules of same size so it runs in dual channel mode, wider memory access and higher data transfer speed.

@Ox @DorothyRemas That's a good point, and important.

I read it a long time ago and it was my personal intro to Mastodon, so I keep suggesting it, plus the one on the second link with more details, from another author.
