In that case, what exactly does becoming their pet mean? I assumed it meant you had to remain close to them all the time, etc. but if we do get full freedom, I'll take this heavenly life in return for getting the label of "pet" attached - sounds like a good deal to me.
@digital_carver Also, you probably don't want to let your patron lose you completely, they might write you off.
You also don't necessarily have a big bank account. Your patron gives you everything you need directly, not as human money. You could still earn money or beg for it, but you won't get any help there other than having tons of free time.
They will also periodically need access to you to provide high quality medical care, vaccinations, etc.
That said, you can call your patron.
@digital_carver Well, they can't protect you if you are too far away from them. Outside their fortress is a potentially dangerous place, and far less cozy.
However, it's not like you're an indoor human. You can roam as you please. They even have a human door for you.
Also, as long as you keep on your tag/microchip, you will be recognized as being protected. You also know where the fortress is.
Also, being much smarter than a cat or dog, your potential range is far wider.
