@sotolf I'm neither a vim nor emacs person, since I switched to kakoune :( And I also don't like being bind to an editor for such a feature/program. I want something like nb, so, take markdown files and produce a nice collection of it with the option to easily export via pandoc or the like, make it searchable, assign tags, make todos etc. But you are right, org and vimwiki is probably the best option for any vim/emacs user.

I don't know how much of a one-to-one match it is, but Joplin is a pretty famous alternative (there's both a GUI and a TUI).
I personally use wiki.vim (a lighter vimwiki), although in practice I barely use any of its features except page-linkage.

@digital_carver since I intentionally have a lot of notes not digital, I decided to stick with nb. Tried a few other things now, but they are all not that feature rich or at least do not integrate that well with other nice linux software. Ideally I'd like something like vimwiki but made for kakoune :D

@koehlerson
By not digital do you mean handwritten physical notes that you insert as images?
the "handwritten" part reminded me of another app I came across recently, Xournal++ github.com/xournalpp/xournalpp
Doesn't seem like it has tags or todo lists though, at least based on the README.

@digital_carver yes I mean handwritten notes but not inserted as images; just bundled in a notebook 📓 :)
