Question for #AIArt (and maybe #AIEthics) folks:
Is there an AI art generator out there that's been trained only on images where the artist consented for it to be used for AI training?
#NovelAI famously did not do that, it's not clear what #MidJourney used, and I don't know what other options exist.
@digital_carver midjourney Midjourney does not communicate on its database but 1/ it would not be surprising if they also use Laion (maybe filtered and augmented with other data but there may not be many alternatives). 2/ the algorithm has no problem to generate images very close to the drawings of famous comics or manga authors who have very little chance to have explicitly consented.
@digital_carver probably none, ai images generator are usually not trained from scratch but on previously trained model and typically use terabytes of automatically gathered images. For example stablediffusion uses : https://laion.ai/
