Is there a browser extension or something for mastodon that makes following people less of a royal pain?

For Firefox there's this one:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mastodon-simplified-federation/
that makes it so that the follow-able version of the page opens in the same page instead of in a popup (and without asking you to enter your id every time).
But the main mastodon.social instance has a new UI that breaks it, and I think other instances are slowly adopting it too. For now it still works in most cases.
