@TootUncommon @ech I was taught (California, 1970's) that the Civil War wasn't about slavery, but rather States' Rights, and that the only people who cared about slavery were a few progressives and only some of the slaves. It wasn't until about 2000 that I discovered the memoirs of ex-slaves that were published in the early part of the 20th century.

@ech @TootUncommon Didn't everybody first learn about Tulsa from "Watchmen"? (And waiting a few months before I asked, "Wait, was that real??")
