Are you like me and haven’t completely stopped going to the bird site because some of the bird site people you follow aren’t on Mastodon/? Then try Bird Makeup:
• Enter the bird site handle you want to follow on Mastodon
• Bird Makeup will give you back a Mastodon handle
• Copy the Mastodon handle into Mastodon’s Search field
• The search will reveal the person’s Mastodon handle and an option to follow or subscribe
My experience with Bird Makeup
• It will take about 24-36 hours before the person’s bird site posts start appearing in your Mastodon Home timeline
• The person’s tweets-turned-toots will be batched, appearing in a cluster of successive toots and not in real time
• Jpeg attached is an example, using Former US Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFau, PhD's bird site handle turned Mastodon handle and how his tweets-now-toots appear on my Home timeline.
• FYI, McFaul appears to already have @mcfaul account, but it doesn’t seem to be current or active, so Bird Makeup has been a better option for me.
