Hi everyone! I'm @colingorrie from Twitter. My main interests are in linguistics, ancient language paedagogy, and post-academia.
I'm currently learning Mandarin, Yiddish, and Spanish and I teach Old English and Latin.
I also stream things like live language learning and conlanging pretty frequently.
Who knows if Mastodon will end up working out, but if so, looking forward to having a fresh start.

@colingorrie Naïve question but really curious. Why do people need old English?
@engelbart It would be a stretch to say anyone needed it (outside, say, mediaevalists, historical linguists, or a particular breed of time traveller) but it's a beautiful language to learn and teaches a lot about the roots of our present-day English.
