One of the main reasons I made this account was to be able to rant anonymously about my difficulties with christianity (the "semi-agnostic churchgoer" bit in my pinned intro is very much real I'm afraid)
... which I haven't really done yet at all. I hope to write a bit about this soon-ish but it's kind of difficult and confrontational to put into words. This 'faith crisis' of mine is something I don't really talk about irl

@eqyo This is definitely a difficult thing to come to grips with. For me, it helps to separate cultural components from belief/faith components. For example, I enjoy Christmas with family as a cultural thing, but don't buy into the beliefs that go along with a full-blown embrace of Christianity.

For centuries people have deliberately tangled up morality and decency with religion, asserting that you need to be religious to be a decent person. This is not at all true. I think that given a little time and a critical mind, people can often start to pick apart all these threads for themselves.

@aebrockwell Thanks.

I'm quite heavily involved in my local church which makes it hard for me to separate things in that way. Basically my problem is that I like my church but it's also where I'm surrounded by true believers who think I am also a true believer.
