Bloody monarchs!
Just went to the pub to avoid corronation embuggeration closing off the entire city centre, only to be held up crossing the main road by royal motorcade!
(Two blacked-out Range Rovers, a police BMW SUV, and half a dozen police bikers. Oh, and a helicopter overhead, and a Red Arrows fly-past, just Because Fuck You, Proles.)
Admittedly most of the time the King of England (sic) travels with a muchh smaller escort than the Mayor of Detroit, never mind a POTUS, but it's still ostentatious and annoying. Especially the shouty escort cops getting in bystanders' faces,
@cstross A similar thing happened to me in Edinburgh. I was on a pedestrian crossing when the motorcade came zooming towards me. A police motorcyclist stopped right in front of me and actually pushed me back. So much for the law about pedestrians having right of way on crossings!
