# /usr/bin/java -jar apps/TLS-Server-Scanner.jar -connect www.bbc.co.uk:443

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: de/rub/nds/tlsscanner/serverscanner/Main has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0

Great. But what do I need to do to fix it?
#CrapErrorMessage

So I run:
# java -version

java version "1.8.0_381"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_381-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.381-b09, mixed mode)

I don't see 55 or 53 there...
Honestly, people compain about the Node ecosystem but there are way worse out there - java & python to name but two.

@tdp_org yeah, that is annoying. More modern langs like Node tend to me more forward compatible, but unless you Know its hard to find out!
