I'm going to have to replace my eight year old MacBook; it's beyond the point I can afford to keep repairing it. I really want the next one to be the last laptop I ever buy: we cannot afford to keep generating e-waste.
My current thought is a @frameworkcomputer, mainly for repairability. Does anyone have alternative suggestions for a very long life laptop? Low power consumption is also desirable, UN*X/Linux of some kind required.

It's a great system, and I'm very tempted to abandon my usual plan of refurbished ThinkPads when it's time to replace my W540.

@duncan_bayne @frameworkcomputer well, here's one: Tom's Hardware reviewed an absolutely top spec i7 Framework, and reported that it ran VERY hot on some of their tests. But I suspect that does not represent normal usage, particularly if you choose a lower spec processor.
Do you find yours runs hot?

@simon_brooke @duncan_bayne my AMD @frameworkcomputer does get very warm, if I'm pushing it hard (games made in last 10 years on Steam). But just general browsing and light (JavaScript, Sublime) development don't cause it to heat at all, and battery life is most-of-day.
And I expect BIOS and Kernel updates to improve things even more, as the silicon itself is basically brand new from AMD
