The BBC's 6 month trial of using the Fediverse will be ending soon.
They want to measure if they have enough reach and engagement for the effort they expend running their Mastodon instance.
Give these accounts a follow if you agree that public broadcasters should live in the Fediverse:

@sil @brianleroux this support was also a missing piece when we last looked at Arc a year or so ago.
Looks like same pattern could be used to manage arbitrary other AWS objects in the same stack.
Reasonably neat...

@miyuru @paoloredaelli yeah, I'm gonna have to submit again and write a longer justification.
Ridiculous have to do this to get reverse DNS out of

At the event in ? Look for the orange floppy disk t-shirt and say "hi from Mastadon" :-)

@miyuru @paoloredaelli nope, reverse DNS denied by "Not provided a valid/clear use case to warrant sending mail from EC2 ... Use SES"
For an existing ec2 based mail server that has never had AUP or billing issues.

So the charge is 🤑

NGL Response

@danirabbit whereas I hate it because status moans about "rotated since start" and won't show recent logs, but good old text in /var/log for the same service is accurate

What browser do you use? Curious what the stats look like on fedi. Boosts for visibility appreciated.

Crazy read: detecting positions of players in Counterstrike by *listening to their GPU over a microphone*

@miyuru @paoloredaelli and of course support tickets can't be raised without spending $20 quid a month, *minimum* so it's out of reach for a hobby. Given it's probably impractical to run an IPv6-only server right now, stuck paying the $4/mnth fine :(

@b3cft I only need it for a handful of domains, so expect low traffic. Shoving the reports into DynamoDB and build some trivial "show me rows for $host between $date and $date2" front end should be easy. I think!
