@kohnzn
Hmmmm . . . the phone oscillating in sync with the frame rate of the camera just in time to give us a clear (and centered) view of the impact site . . . makes me think, that this is fake.

(But if it is, it is quite well made and entertaining)

OK. This is Tommy Robinson, a U.K. far right nob, being put in a police van after being arrested for turning up at a march against anti-Semitism in London today.

There's probably more to the story, but, really who cares? It's Tommy in a police van. Enjoy!

#UKPolitics.

When the driver, during their seriously intense driving, managing tires, car and lap times can come up repeatedly with a better strategy that a dedicated team of strategists with access to all data...

It seriously raises a question about the decision-making and competence of their strategy team. Change is needed for 2024.

@vic @Edent sadly @Mer__edith broke that work around as old @signalapp can't interop with new post-SMS removal version :-(
Managed to keep some people on it anyway, but much harder sell than used to be

“Doctor Who: The Star Beast” spoiler

Eleven: Hey. Look. The round things!
Ten: I love the round things.
Eleven: What are the round things?
Ten: No idea.
(“The Day of the Doctor”)

Clara: You’ve redecorated.
Twelve: Yes.
Clara: I don’t like it.
Twelve: I’m not entirely convinced myself. I think there should be more round things on the walls. I used to have a lot of round things. I wonder where I put them.
(“Deep Breath”)

Clearly, Thirteen's problem was insufficient roundel nostalgia.

@jonoabroad Welcome back Doctor. I see you've rearranged the music. I don't like it.

If there’s one aspect of RTD writing for #DoctorWho that I don’t care for, it’s his reliance on magic to solve problems. Case in point the resolution to the meta crisis in Donna’s head (Donna and her child are magical) plus London streets being literally ripped apart then put back together by ‘magic’. The show was fun as long as you don’t look to hard at the actual story.

@andypiper the TARDIS set is huge. I assume they'll have to be a 'trapped in it" episode to justify, or it's going to be (has been) kept for next years episodes

@manu @pluralistic
I knew a guy in the 80s who would make collect calls from Canada to a payphone in France. When his girlfriend answered, she would say she accepted the charges, but the Canadian operator didnt know that there was no such mechanism in France so they would have long free talks at a time when international calls were expensive and neither Skype nor the Internet existed.

@Edent snap! Except don't think they understood what spell check was to turn off...
We also had to get high school to find out what max limit was on print out vs hand written. Turns out only one by hand was required

The Tautological Algorithm exists in a class of "ontology-oriented" algorithms, containing such algorithms as the Zen Sort, which sorts a list by deciding its current contents are the definition of "order" and therefore it is already sorted. Other algorithms in the class are ontologically slower, however, clocking in at O(1), because it takes a nonzero amount of time to decide that the list is sorted. The Tautological Algorithm meanwhile by definition is already complete at the time it is used

I know you guys like funny or weird source code comments. Here are interesting comments in the source code of SQLite github.com/endlesssoftware/sql

HO HO HO! Its 31 days until #Christmas!

Quick word from an elf in the PR department. Some things happen around Christmas, but are not necessarily Christmas related. To avoid confusion, I’ve been asked to restrict my greetings and holiday wishes to a list that has been carefully curated and approved.

Seems a lot of fuss if you ask me, but fortunately I can still wish you all a happy holidays, seasons greetings, and yippie ki yay moth- WHAT?! I can’t say that one? But it’s a Christmas movie!
