So I do an internet search for "What is a Passkey?"
Not wasting my time with Google or Bing for that one but responses I get are just Seo blogs telling me how wonderful passkeys are and how they're better than passwords but that's all I see and I can't be bothered to click further. No onboarding, nothing to set up with with a passkey, whatever that is.
Is there some stupid app with a cringey name I need to use?
You know what I understand and use?
SMS texts

The stages of playing with GPT-3:

- OMG this can do anything
- There goes my job
- I should start a business around this
- Some of the responses aren’t too good
- Actually, some of these responses are just awful
- This isn’t really intelligence
- This is just spicy autocomplete

Graphic violence against reply guys

A tale as old as time

My heretical opinion: for most users, SMS 2FA is good. As long as sites don't reuse SMS as a way to reset passwords, SMS 2FA is strictly better than no 2FA. Yes, it's the easiest 2FA to compromise - but it's still better than no 2FA at all. If you re-used a password elsewhere, SMS 2FA will still prevent an attacker getting into a different account.

Here's the chart that really matters.

Average Mastodon posts per month are going up.

Here's a comparison:

* Sept 2022: ~460M posts
* Dec 2022: ~573M posts
* Feb 2022 (so far): ~678M posts

This is a dramatic upswing in posts, and indicates that activity on Mastodon is continuing to increase.

The chart tells the story. The jump is dramatic.

I’m in Morecambe Bay this week bringing Laser Light City to the Baylight festival. Winter gardens looking good! #lasers

There seems to be another wave of anti-remote working articles doing the rounds, including one that is apparently saying we need the commute home to psychologically switch off from work.

Since I have gone 100% remote I have never been happier. At the end of the day I lock my laptop, walk through a door and I'm home. I get to spend more time with my wife and boys, I'm not tired out from the stress of commuting, and at the weekends I want to get out and do stuff and I can afford to because I'm not spending on fuel or public transport.

I'm sure some people prefer to be in the office all the time. Some prefer to be at home all the time. Some prefer a mix. Why can't it be left at that? Stop with the anti-remote rhetoric and companies, if you're listening, the best way to get good people is to be flexible.

So almost finished my #ExpanseVACSuit but not happy with arm controller.. I have found these esp32 touchscreen LCD units from AliExpress which I am going to try to use to replace the screens with actual animated panels.. will not be easy but should look much better. If anyone has any resources for programming them to basically play a video file or a series of images on boot up that would be great. Only cost £12 ea 😁

The myth the UK’s surveillance apparatus is ‘going dark’ and can’t keep up with technology. computerweekly.com/news/365531 never in human history have those in power been able to know so much about our lives and yet still their hunger to invade our personal privacy continues. #surveillance #ripa
