The country where EVs have been most successful is Norway. The runner-up is Iceland. People trying to tell you EVs don’t work in cold weather are working for the oil companies —whether they know it or not.

@Devilstower What are the grounds on which they claim EVs don't work in the cold weather? Like batteries drain faster?

@Devilstower @daihard
The EV range definitely does decrease because the battery is less efficient, heat uses energy (Instead of being a byproduct of ICE engines), plus snowy roads, snow tires, extra weight and friction of snow in wheel wells.

For my 2017 Bolt:
260-300 miles in summer.
150-180 in winter.

@fatamorgana @Devilstower @daihard Our Prius Prime plug-in hybrid shows a range after full charge of about 37 km in winter, up to 51 km in summer, nominal claimed range of 45 km in spring and fall.
As you shut down, the display offers driving tips for more range, like “use more moderate heating settings.”
As a plug-in hybrid, it has the option to start the gasoline motor in deep cold to assist the battery and warm up the interior sooner.
