We also used to have/love/laugh about this one: a little widget designed entirely to take the stem bit out of a strawberry. https://amzn.to/3VSmXF9

I laughed at that stem extracting gizmo too…. Until I got one. Nothing beats it when you’re faced with 12 quarts of berries.
But I have a “citrus zester” that I can’t for the life of me figure out how to use.
@seattlekim @drvolts
Does yours work?
This one either slides over the skin or gouges holes. I can’t even figure which bit is supposed to do the zesting. (And which side is up.)
@danep @fatamorgana @drvolts that’s what I use too. Works great!
@danep @seattlekim @drvolts I ahh, I’ll keep an eye out for one like that, though in fact i find a regular veggie peeler does most of what I need.
@fatamorgana @seattlekim @drvolts I'm betting theirs is something more like a microplane. That's what I use. (For grating nutmeg, too — and getting really finely pulverized garlic.)
What you have is meant to be pressed hard and flat against the fruit, with the line of the holes kind of tangent to the surface. It's supposed to make longer strands of zest, but I prefer it to be finer.
The other bit on it is to cut out a deeper longer string like you'd use for a lemon twist in a drink.
