@Rjdlandscapes
I’ve made the remarkable discovery that the best way to save money on stuff for sale is buy not buying it.
So it will die of boredom watching me watch for amazon prime offers.
@Rjdlandscapes
This Commercial Flying Object (CFO) will *not* be flying around my house.
Ever.
“plagues don’t tend to end until their human hosts re-engineer the environment that allows them to thrive. From Forsberg’s perspective the only way to close the door on this #pandemic is to provide “#cleanair the way #engineered systems supply clean water.”
“Corsi, now dean of engineering at UC Davis, believes that vaccines and anti-virals are really important. “But this pandemic is not going anywhere until we get serious about lowering the inhalation dose, folks,” https://thetyee.ca/Analysis/2023/01/11/Revolution-Clean-Indoor-Air/

He’s going to make an awesome speaker when his time comes (the sooner the better).
@DeanObeidallah
#mastodon people, please use #hashtags!
They are critical for searching toots.
@jimstewartson
yikes!
Thanks for reporting on this.
@danep @seattlekim @drvolts I ahh, I’ll keep an eye out for one like that, though in fact i find a regular veggie peeler does most of what I need.
@DiverDoc @Swede1952
No question the photo starting this thread is a piliated woodpecker.
The confusion is about whether Woody Woodpecker is the same species.
Evidently he was inspired by an acorn woodpecker, but evolved to resemble a piliated.

@seattlekim @drvolts
Does yours work?
This one either slides over the skin or gouges holes. I can’t even figure which bit is supposed to do the zesting. (And which side is up.)
@Swede1952
I always thought they looked like Woody too! Then I learned he was modeled on an acorn woodpecker, which is confusing because they don’t have the crest.
Look for their holes, oblong shaped with a heap of woods chips on the ground below.
@seattlekim @drvolts
I laughed at that stem extracting gizmo too…. Until I got one. Nothing beats it when you’re faced with 12 quarts of berries.
But I have a “citrus zester” that I can’t for the life of me figure out how to use.
@DemocracyMatters
Suggestion: democrats agree to support a centerist GOP speaker (I know, that will not be easy to find) in exchange for a promise to *not* confirm #santos.
@Rjdlandscapes
Why oh why didn’t any scientists warn us?
@KalofXeno I’m sad to say goodbye to DarkSky, too. 🙁
Hi, @BrunoMcGee
I know Nancy. She’s at the Michigan Tech Research Institute in Ann Arbor, part of Mich Tech, but not in Houghton.
The North Shore of #LakeSuperior is gorgeous, much rockier than the #Keweenaw side (we have some sand beaches and even dunes).
@at0micandy @petergleick
You may have invented a climate science denier argument that even @SkepticalScience hasn't heard yet.
I live on the shores of #LakeSuperior on the #Keweenaw Peninsula in the #UpperPeninsula of #Michigan. This region is within Ojibwe Gichigami (“Ojibwa’s Great Sea”) homelands and ceded-territory, established by the TREATY OF 1842
I'm a professor of #environmental #chemistry with an interest in everything related to #climate, including molecular to global aspects of the carbon cycle, energy and social transitions, new and old technologies for sustainability, forests and biodiversity, local to international climate policy, and the systems thinking approaches we need to make progress.
Too much of a news and politics junkie than is healthy.
I share my homestead with a partner, a dog, several felines, two donkeys, plants, and occasional uninvited critters.
