Are you sure it doesnt support it and its just that your instance did add the proper field to the API (it isnt there by default)

@freemo @mngrif testing now with Fedilab Lite, but it's showing me the char count, not the normal, reversed top down count.

keep any eye out for any features you see and like on other instances. I can usually track down their changes and extract it pretty easily now I think.
