@mur2501 to an extent.. though it isnt a bot that feature is baked into the server itself, but yea in a sense it is.
The big difference is subtle but important. The groups are tagged as a "Group" actor type.. so the servers themselves know the account is special and it is a group. Therefore the clients will render it differently. If you go to the profile for the group it doesnt show the posts as boosts (even though they are under the hood), it just appears as if they were posts directly to the group.
So while the mechanism itself isnt all that special it has the desired effect whereby there is a space where people can post to that is shared by anyone else who joined that same space. It shouldn't look like a boost if your server handles and recognizes the group like qoto does.
The advantage of it being done this way is that it still works if you happen to be on a client that for some reason doesnt support groups (say an old version).
@mur2501 Also notice it only reboosts top-level mentions and doesn't do so on replies.. Thus allowing posts tot he group to form threads without the group reposting every reply at top level.
@freemo
That's the best part
@freemo
Yeah it do is kinda good feature, doing what it should be doing.
@freemo
It looks like a bot which just boosts every posts in which it is tagged?
