Should our #emacs.ch instance join the United Federation of Instances?

@louis I honestly don't see why we shouldn't. It would make discovering different people a lot easier I think? Or am I misunderstanding that?

@natharari The UFoI will not be a directory of people. It will be an association of instance admins with the promise _not_ to block any other instance in the UFoI without a process laid out in their bylaws.

Meaning you are not at risk of getting blocked (by other UFoI members) because some person puts you on their privately run block list for X, Y, Z (i.e. posts about covid, ukraine).

While here on our Emacs.ch instance we don't have these issues (yet), I can see the idea behind UFoI.

@louis

The problem is once you have these issues its too late, and the damage done is hard to reverse.. by having all the evidence in the open it will help protect you as you grow as an instance against these sorts of attacks.

It gets much worse as you grow usually.
