This is now the second free speech manifesto I’ve received in my e-mail, I’m not sure what makes me an interesting target for this stuff…
What seems to be escaping the people sending these is this instance and the administrator is in Europe. In fact, this instance currently has different running parts operating out of France, Germany, Netherlands, and the UK. When you start having to merge the laws that the service needs to abide to together on speech and content, it turns out that it’s simply illegal to have content like:
Holocaust distortion (saying it wasn’t as bad as believed) or denial.
Racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism
Various forms of sexualised content involving depictions of children (regardless of if real or not). In short, there’s no point even trying to convince me, it’s just not legal for me to operate an instance that way regardless.
I realize US law is a lot more lax on this, but it’s not the standard the rest of the world runs on.
I’m just going to point people to this post in future for reference.

I wouldn’t say attacking, I’ve just had a second e-mail trying to tell me the benefits of free speech and why it’s important, why Awoo shouldn’t have rules against whatever and it takes a very American perspective that what they think is a problem is even legal. That’s after ignoring my personal beliefs and ignoring the wants of users on the server.
