A week ago I moved servers, from #qoto to #acm (mastodon.acm.org). Everything seemed to work OK, I could import the list of accounts I follow, I can toot, etc. I set-up an alias on the ACM account and I clicked “move to a different account” on the qoto account.

But my followers weren’t moved or notifified. 1/4 of them is following me here, but I think they actively did so.

Also, the old account seems to still be “active”?

Any ideas what went wrong and what I should do?

i've never moved accounts, obviously, but as I recall the process requires you to initiate it from both accounts. Maybe you missed a step?

@ACM

@freemo One can only start “moving followers” once the redirect is established, so the order of steps is enforced. My qoto account also says that it redirects to acm. It’s strange as @mxp did the same three days earlier and it worked fine. BTW: I really liked qoto, but I missed some friends who are on servers that block qoto :(

No Idea whats up then.

Shame your friend made you move to a more restricted server rather than your friends moving to more inclusive servers, but no worries just hope you are somewhere happy.

@freemo Funny enough: I just logged in on the qoto account were no “moving followers” was shown? Thanks for wanting to keep me :)

But it had worked for some people last weekend?

I had to revoke the redirect and then activate it again and now it works!
