Believe it or not, they have been mass producing electric cars since the 90s and even today have technologies that are ahead of the market https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Prius is the flagship, but Yaris, bZ4X, Mirai, Eco Explorer all stand out with their remarkable engineering
I'm in it for the self driving, electric is kinda secondary but nice.

@freemo @SirCandinavian@noagendasocial.com too sceptical about self driving myself, unless you're talking of cruise control and automatic parking, but these are also throughout the industry by now
