@Jain@blob.cat they said they are'nt acab very cringe

What did @stux do? I have disagreed with him politically on many things and he has always responded reasonably outside of any disagreement itself.

Thats a weird reason to block you, I mean you definately could buy cannons back then (and plenty of record of people doing it) and in fact you can still buy cannons today in the USA.... seems a weird thing for him to get hung up on, and to block on... usually @stux seems a bit more reasonable than that :(
I mean, he is certainly on the left side of the political spectrum. Not so far I'd call him alt-left or extremist, but still a very strong lean. That usually means hating the people you have to hate to get into the left-club, no different than if you want to be in the right-club you need to hate certain people. In that regard I suppose I agree, he certainly has some strong biases against a few figures... but hey, no one is perfect, I still think the guy is decent.
I think more of it is just trying to stay popular while balancing his ethics.. He has taken a stance where that left-lean is part of his appeal to his audience, and what drives many people to his servers. So he has to keep a certain list of talking points if he is to not be canceled from that half of the fediverse too. So there are very real pressures on him to hate the people the left says you have to hate.
That said Elon and and Trump have plenty of reasons one might dislike them, especially Trump.
@freemo @icedquinn @Jain @Stellar @stux Interesting. Yeah right leaning people hate folks too, IMHO the problem becomes when your hatred for someone consumes you so much that you can’t rationally talk about something pertaining to that person. Like I could explain how, for example, #TwitterBlue is a good idea for the platform, but stux probably wouldn’t accept any such argument, most likely because #ElonMusk came up with the idea, and #ElonMusk is bad. That sort of blind hatred is just cringe to me. At the very least, it limits one from having genuine, constructive conversations about certain subjects.

I agree, and I'd say this applies to most of the people strongly adhering to either side of the spectrum. Most people who are solidly left or right will irrationally and without discussion stick to their guns on botht he people they like and the people they hate. I dont think I've ever met a person who is a self-described conservative who felt Biden "wasnt so bad", nor have i ever found a neo-liberal who felt that way about Trump.
I do understand the cringe aspect of that, and I do agree. But I have to still say the fact that he generally treats people with respect who respectfully express a difference of opinion goes a long way with me, no one is perfect, and your concerns are valid, but when judging someone you have to look at the bigger picture and I think Stux is an alright guy overall despite any short comings.
@freemo @icedquinn @Jain @Stellar @stux IDK he can be a bit unpredictable. He’s usually nice but mention the wrong person and he can fly off the handle a lil bit, doing ad hominem attacks against the person without doing much in the way of a serious conversation. Mentioning someone like #Trump or #ElonMusk can easily set him off, I remember when #ElonMusk would make one slight change to #Twitter and stux would write like 5 fuming toots about it lol…certain famous people live rent free in his head, I guess
